The Journeys Behind the Work

In the Field

Travel, here, is not about destinations.

It is about distance — from routine, from familiarity, from certainty.

These photographs are made away from home, often alone, often at the edges of the day. They are not records of arrival, nor souvenirs of movement, but quiet encounters with places that reveal themselves briefly, then close again.

There is no pursuit of spectacle. No attempt to explain culture or geography. These images resist narrative and favour atmosphere — spaces observed rather than occupied.

What matters is not where they were made, but when: moments suspended between activity and rest, light and absence, belonging and anonymity.

Travel becomes a condition, not a subject.

Each work in this section is considered individually, released with restraint, and intended to be lived with — not consumed.

Travel, in this work, is not about distance or destination.

It is about being present long enough for a place to reveal its quieter self.

These images were made slowly, often alone, across cities and interiors shaped by history and silence — from the early hours of Jerusalem, through the stone corridors and night streets of Florence, to fragments of time found in France, Germany, Spain, and across parts of America.

I return less interested in landmarks than in atmosphere — in the way light behaves after dark, how architecture holds memory, and how absence can feel louder than crowds.

Travel becomes a way of listening. The photographs are what remain.
