For serious collectors, provenance matters as much as presentation. A Certificate of Authenticity exists to preserve clarity around the work acquired, the edition to which it belongs, and the legitimacy of its place within a defined body of work.
It is the document that helps protect confidence, continuity, and collectable integrity over time.
What the certificate records
Each certificate is issued to formally identify the artwork and confirm its authorised status within my fine art practice.
Depending on the work, it may record the title, edition classification, production method, and the date the physical print was produced.
In collector terms, it establishes documentary continuity: a clear link between the artwork owned and the edition history from which it comes.
Why collectors value it
The long-term significance of a fine art work rests not only in the image itself, but in the confidence that surrounds its provenance, legitimacy, and edition integrity.
Provenance
It creates a formal record connecting the work to its original source and authorised edition context.
Edition clarity
It confirms that the artwork belongs to a defined and legitimate edition structure rather than an open or uncertain reproduction history.
Confidence
It supports the collector’s confidence in what has been acquired, how it is documented, and how it should be understood in the future.
Issued separately, with purpose
The physical artwork is professionally produced and dispatched through the print fulfilment process.
The Certificate of Authenticity is then issued separately afterward as the formal provenance record for qualifying works.
This distinction matters. It separates production fulfilment from documentary authentication, giving the certificate its proper status as a collector document rather than a packaging insert.
Which works qualify
Certificates are issued for qualifying works, including pieces from The Collector’s Vault and selected strictly limited releases.
