Where light and shadow hold something old and beautiful for a little longer.
It stands quietly on a dark wooden table, caught between two small flames. The lacquer catches the light in places and swallows it in others. Gold flowers and curling leaves seem to move slightly as the candles flicker, as if the object itself is breathing.
These are the moments I look for. Not grand gestures or perfect symmetry, but the quiet conversations between light and the things it touches. An old urn, worn at the edges, still carrying colour and pattern from another time. Two candles, burning down without urgency. A marble wall behind them that has seen centuries pass.
Sometimes the most powerful things in a room are the ones that have already outlived most of the people who once used them.
The urn does not ask to be noticed. It simply waits. And in the low, unsteady light of the candles, it reveals itself slowly — the way old objects often do when we stop rushing past them.
